Do I receive the ID or face photos?
Not automatically, on any plan. The photos are encrypted on the person’s phone with a key made for that check, opened only on Cabana Verify’s servers to be checked, and kept by us. You receive the Trust Score, the decision, the reasons and the details your tier allows. If you have a real need, such as a dispute, a regulator’s request or a fraud case, you can ask for them: see “What if I need the documents?”.
What if I need the documents?
Any business can write to verify@cabana.africa with the check’s reference and the reason, and a specialist will deal with it. Once we have checked your business (the Assured tier), you can request the photos of a specific check from your console in one click. A Cabana Verify specialist reviews every request. If it is approved, the photos are emailed once to your account owner, and the release is recorded. They are personal data: you use them only for the reason you gave, keep them secure, and delete them when you are done.
What is the Trust Score made of?
The document and whether its machine lines pass their check digits, whether the printed details agree, signs of a copy, a screen or editing, the face match, liveness, image quality, and fraud signals from across the network. Hard facts cap the score: an expired document, an under-age holder, a failed liveness check or a reused document can never score highly.
Which details do I receive?
On Basic: full name, gender, document type, issuing country, whether the person is over 18 and whether the document is still valid. Date of birth, document number, expiry date and nationality are released only on Assured, after we have checked your business registration and your reason for needing them.
Which documents and countries work?
Passports from every country, plus national ID cards, residence permits and driving licences. Documents with machine-readable lines are proven by their check digits; others are read by our AI document reader and checked against the photo. Cabana Verify was built in Africa and works worldwide.
What if someone can’t do the light check?
The light changes smoothly, without flashing. When a check is unclear, it goes to a Cabana Verify specialist instead of failing outright, and you are told when they decide. If changing light is uncomfortable for someone, the check tells them to ask you for another way to verify.
How long do you keep the photos?
Up to a year, the same for every business. We keep each check to settle disputes and to train our fraud detection on how real and fake documents look, which is how the service keeps getting harder to fool. People are told this before they start, in plain words, and it is explained in our privacy notice. Then the key that opens the photos is destroyed first and the files are deleted. We never sell data or use it for advertising.
Why must I prove I own my website or app?
So people know exactly who is asking for their identity, and so no one can run checks pretending to be you. A DNS record, a meta tag or a file proves a website; for apps, a small file on your developer site plus your store listing. We look at it every day, and pause checks if it turns into something else.
Can I try it without real people?
