What the rate covers

    What is charged on top

      Dispatch

What happens in the ninety seconds after you tap request

Drivers are on shift and their phones report position every thirty seconds. Your request reaches all of them at once.

      STEP 01

      The request goes out

Every approved driver within four kilometres, cleared for your chosen class, gets the trip on screen at the same moment.

      STEP 02

The first to accept keeps it

One tap locks the trip to one driver. You are never handed to two cars, or to none.

      STEP 03

      The circle widens

At forty five seconds the radius opens to eight kilometres, then twelve. You watch the count of alerted drivers climb in real time.

      STEP 04

You get a name and a plate

Driver name, rating, car, colour and registration, then live position as they reach you.

      Standards

Who is allowed to pick you up

Every driver is a person we have met, checked and cleared for a specific class of vehicle.

      Documents, and their expiry dates

National ID, driving licence, PSV badge, good conduct certificate, logbook, insurance and a current inspection. Expiries are tracked. A lapsed policy takes a driver offline the same day.

The car is inspected, not just described

Each vehicle is cleared for one class on age, condition, seat count and boot space. Photographs and a physical check decide it, not the driver.

      Trained before the first trip

Induction covers airport protocol, luggage handling, the meter, late flights and the standard of courtesy we hold. Executive drivers do the longer version.

Share the trip, and reach a person

Send a live link to whoever is expecting you. Dispatch is a human on WhatsApp and a number a person answers.

Taxis, airport transfers and chauffeur hire in Nairobi

Cabana Rides is a private, operated fleet in Nairobi. We recruit the drivers, check their documents, inspect their vehicles and put them on one published tariff: a base fare, a rate per kilometre, a rate per minute and a minimum fare for each class. Every surcharge appears as its own line on your fare before you confirm.

Airport transfers to and from Jomo Kenyatta International and Wilson are sold at a fixed price rather than metered. Popular routes run from KSh 900 into the city centre to KSh 2,200 out to Karen, with executive saloons and seven-seat vans on the same fixed basis.

Private chauffeur hire keeps one driver and one car with you for a booked block of hours. Fuel, tolls, Nairobi parking and waiting time are in the rate. It suits visiting executives, conference delegations, wedding parties, film crews and families spending a week in the city.

How much is a taxi from JKIA to Nairobi city centre?

KSh 900 as a fixed Comfort-class transfer, including up to sixty minutes of waiting in arrivals. Westlands is KSh 1,500 and Karen is KSh 2,200. An executive saloon to anywhere in Nairobi is KSh 4,500 and a seven-seat van is KSh 3,800. Those prices are agreed when you book and do not change with traffic or demand.

How is a metered Cabana fare calculated?

Base fare, plus distance at the rate per kilometre for your class, plus trip time at the rate per minute. Economy is KSh 100 base, KSh 50 a kilometre and KSh 3 a minute, with a KSh 250 minimum. An airport pick-up adds KSh 200 for parking and access. Rides starting between 22:00 and 05:00 carry an 18 percent night rate. The total is rounded to the nearest ten shillings and shown in full before you request the car.

      Does Cabana use surge pricing?

There is a demand multiplier, it is capped at 1.5 times, and it applies only when live requests genuinely outnumber free cars. When active it appears as its own labelled line on your fare with the multiplier printed, so you always see it before you agree to it. It never applies to a fixed transfer, a chauffeur booking or a ride booked in advance.

Can I book a ride for a specific time in advance?

Yes. Choose Book ahead in the fare meter and set the date and time. Advance bookings are dispatched to drivers before your pick-up window and are never subject to the demand multiplier. For an early flight or an important meeting this is the safer choice.

How do I become a Cabana driver in Nairobi?

Apply on the driver page with your ID, driving licence, PSV badge, certificate of good conduct, logbook, insurance and inspection certificate. Applications are reviewed within two working days. There is no joining fee, drivers keep 90 percent of every fare, and payouts go to M-Pesa every Monday.

What does a private chauffeur cost in Nairobi?

A ten hour day with a Comfort car is KSh 19,000, an Executive saloon is KSh 33,000 and a seven-seat van is KSh 26,000. Half days of five hours start at KSh 11,000. Fuel, tolls, Nairobi parking and all waiting time inside your booked hours are included.
